Outside the main entrance of Museo de Antropología, every hour locals gather to admire the Voladores de Papantla (Papantla’s fliers). Yes, you read that right: fliers. A pre-Hispanic ritual-dance, where four costumed men swing around a tall pole as if they were flying and then start to descend rhythmically. Legend has it that they ask gods for benevolence and plentiful rains for land fertility.
